Refocus sold 25% of business to Skyeng to scale up in the Asian market

Digital Marketing School Refocus sold 25% stake to Skyeng, one of the largest players in the education market in Eastern Europe, in order to focus on business development in Asia.

In the nearest future, Refocus team plans to expand the business to the Philippines and Indonesia, and launch 50+ educational courses in the APAC region in 2022 and teach 1 million students in the first 5 years.

Skyeng, which just bought 25% of Refocus’s stake, will integrate Refocus into its online university Skypro. The university offers vocational courses on data analytics, coding, marketing, and other IT professions. Refocus course programs will be adapted to the new platform, while the teaching staff and teaching approaches will remain the same.

Refocus provides students with digital skills during a complete course in the IT profession. This way students can increase their chances of successful employment. The company is currently launching three educational directions in the Philippines: Project Manager, Digital Marketing Manager and QA Engineer.

Refocus brings together 2,500 students and 35 practicing teachers. Today the company offers seven, and in the future — ten IT-professions that are in demand in the labor market.

Each course includes 150+ hours of lectures, 19 assignments, 9 months of training, and certification. Enrolled students will be divided into small groups for practicing new job-ready skills and networking under the supervision of curators.

Teaming up with Skypro enables Refocus to leverage the power and tools of the online university to deliver an alternative to higher education in a much faster and more practice-oriented way.

The team of Refocus enters Asian countries to develop the digital and IT professional skills that the market needs. At the moment, the IT sector offers one of the most in-demand and high-paid jobs in the Philippines. In Q2 2021, the country’s GDP grew by 11.8%, according to a country’s statistics office report. Such growth is driving rapid digitalization and increasing demand for IT professionals.

Roman Kumar Vyas, the founder of Refocus, has significant experience in entrepreneurship, marketing and education with over 100 successful growth cases globally: in Silicon Valley, New York, London, Germany, Russian Federation, Nigeria, South Korea. He strongly believes that the future of education belongs to the programs that meet global education requirements, and at the same time, are locally relevant. That’s why the Refocus tutors team include Western industry-leading experts with global cases, and local top-professionals with strong sense of country’s spirit.

“The modern world is changing very quickly. What you taught a year ago is no longer relevant, let alone university knowledge. The program of higher education institutions is not able to meet the market demand for qualified specialists. Therefore, we are developing Refocus, providing an opportunity to quickly master relevant skills and get a job. The sale of a share to Skyeng will help us establish ourselves faster in the Asian market meeting state standards and needs of real employers, who seek qualified candidates”, – comments Roman Kumar Vyas, the founder of Refocus.
