207THS Change of Command: New King Stinger Installed

Philippine Air Force Major Marvin Dulay Alambra, 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron Commander, Brigadier General Rene Raoul Rommel DC Honasan AFP ,and Major Sonny Boy Cabalquinto.

The mighty Stingers of the North conducted its Change of Command Ceremony on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron Hangar, Col Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City. 

Major Marvin Dulay Alambra PAF was installed as the new Squadron Commander of the 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron. 

The ceremony was presided by Brigadier  General  Rene Raoul Rommel DC Honasan AFP, Wing Commander, 205THW.

 Major Alambra is the 27th Squadron Commander of the 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron, also known as the “Stingers”, the leading unit that provides the capability for tactical heli-lift and combat search and rescue in Luzon. 

Major Alambra is an instructor pilot of the UH-1 helicopter who has accumulated more than 1, 500 flying hours over the course of his flying career through various flight missions that range from combat, combat support, HADR and support to national development flights. 

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “MANDALA” Class of 2006. He replaced the outgoing Squadron Commander, his own PMA Mistah, Major Sonny Boy Cabalquinto PAF, who will now be assigned at the Headquarters, 205THW based in BGBNEAB, Lapu-Lapu City.

 The Wing Commander congratulated the outgoing Squadron Commander for spearheading all the accomplishments of the Stingers during his term. 

He also lauded the Stingers for their augmentation in the 206THS and 208THS Areas of Responsibility, stating that the whole AFP recognized the efforts of the 207THS during the disastrous encounter at Samar. He also recognized the participation of the Stingers during the 2019 elections and the 2019 SEA Games, where MAJ Cabalquinto was one of the front pilots of that time. 

The high operational rate of 207THS aircraft during his term was also commended by the Wing Commander. 

The accomplishments which were described as “efforts left unnoticed” and “fruits of labor”, were attributed to the leadership of the outgoing commander.

BGEN Honasan also congratulated the newly installed Squadron Commander for being appointed to such a position. He recognized the capabilities, competence, service reputation, and dedication to the service that Major Alambra displayed over the years. He also stated that he expects Major Alambra to carry on the exceptional effort of his predecessor and take the challenge, as he is also known to be highly capable of continuing the legacy or even surpassing the efforts of his classmate, Major Cabalquinto.

With the formal turnover of authority and responsibilities, the 207THS will surely remain as the forefront of tactical heli-lift and combat SAR operations in Luzon. 

Composed of patriotic men and women who have the passion to serve and defend the country, the Stingers with its new leader will surely continue their unwavering service to help the Filipino people and provide the best support to the ground troops. (205THW)
