Over 500 young athletes are expected to gear up for the RLC Residences IRONKIDS Lapu-Lapu event scheduled for April 20, 2024, at the Reef Island Resort Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City.

In collaboration with RLC Residences, the residential brand of Robinsons Land Corp, this race aims to instill an active lifestyle among young athletes. Unlike previous editions, this year’s race introduces Aquathlon, according to Princess Galura, General Manager and President of Sunrise Events and Ironman Philippines during a press conference on February 14, 2024, at the Reef. She was joined by Congresswoman Cindi Chan, ABC President Jasmine “Daday” Chan, RLC Residences Brand Management Head Dan Carlo Torres, and Reef Island Resort Mactan General Manager Gerra Lizares.

The event features various distances for different age groups: 13 to 15 years old (250m swim and 2km run), 11 to 12 years old (200m swim and 1.5km run), 9 to 10 years old (150m swim and 1.5km run), and the youngest group of 6 to 8 years old (100m swim and 1km run). Additionally, there will be a relay for ages 11 to 15.

Congresswoman Chan expressed her excitement for RLC Ironkids, emphasizing it as more than a race—a chance for young participants to discover the joy of sportsmanship and healthy competition. She highlighted the safety measures in place to ensure a secure and memorable experience.

Daday Chan also expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming race, highlighting its potential not only to boost children’s health and wellness but also to promote tourism in Lapu-Lapu City, given its strategic location near Mactan Cebu International Airport and its picturesque surroundings.

The RLC Ironkids Lapu-Lapu is a key side event of the Ironman 70.3 Lapu-Lapu, aligning with the celebration of the 503rd Victory at Mactan on April 27.
