ANOTHER fun run for a cause dubbed as the Citrineland  Run for Gift of Life – Year 2  is set this coming May 13, 2018 at the Robinson’s Galleria.

The race is spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Cebu which is geared towards not only to promote  health and wellness among the participants  but as well to create awareness in the community most especially among the parents of children with  congenital heart defect (CHD) that there is still hope for their children’s future.

This race was formally launched during the press conference last Wednesday at the Calyx building in IT Park. The event was attended by the officers and members of RCC such as  Mike Edenburn, Charles Ong, Jacob Ong, Bing Martinez, Incoming president Stephen Chian, Walter Cang, Edward Tan Ting and Edward Garciarun for life

The race aims to gather around 3,000 participants to surpass last year’s 2,000 record.

This year it has sent invitation to several corporate companies with the hope it can send a delegation to the fun run. As of press time, three BPO companies has already confirmed their participation such as   Performance360 Global Services, Abacare and Optum.

All proceeds for this event of the Gift of Life Program will  be used to fund for the operation of children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) coming  from indigent families thus giving them a second lease in life.

The club started this program last 2007 and to date have given more than 40 children renewed hope on the goodness of humanity.

Among the children that benefited  from the Gift of Life program was Rhenzo Ferrater, a 7-month old child, who experienced the struggle to breathe every day.

CHD also called Patent Ductus Arteriosus is a condition caused by a hole in the heart that allows oxygen-poor blood from the pulmonary artery to mix with oxygen –rich blood from the aorta.

In hopes for a better future, his parents were introduced to a program that would help give Rhenzo a chance to live life struggling to breathe. Through the program, Rhenzo was adopted and supported by Citrineland Corporation for corrective surgery and is now on the way to full recovery.

The Gift of life program runs to negotiate, reduce professional fees and costs with doctors and hospitals. It also partners with sponsors and organizations especially the Department of Social Welfare and Development to help educate the parents with the basic needs of the patient after the operation.

This year  they  are targeting 60 children to receive this Gift of Life.
