CDB Raises Funds for Sick Doctor Colleague

In the spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie, the Cracking D’ Boards Study & Review Center, Inc. (CDB) donated some funds to the medical expenses of a former scholar and alumnus.

Dr. John Jane Batirzal was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease due to Poststreptococcal Glomerulonephritis.

Dr. JJ, as he is fondly called by his peers, undergoes regular dialysis three times a week.

Just last June 25, Dr. JJ just underwent a Kidney Transplant which went successfully. He is now recovering at the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao.

The CDB, through its #CDBCares charity program, organized a blocked screening and fundraising rolled into one last April 24 at the  SM City Cebu in order to gather money to help with Dr. JJ’s medical bills.

The entire cinema was filled with fans of the much-awaited blockbuster Avengers: Endgame which left moviegoers of all ages at the edge of their seats.

Cosplayer friends like Black Panther, Spiderman, Deadpool, Baby Groot, Ironman, and Nebula were also in attendance to add to the festive atmosphere. They also took selfies with spectators.

CDB review center also treated their special guests from the Kythe Foundation during the show. Children diagnosed with cancer enjoyed the cinematic experience with their respective families courtesy of the #CDBcares program.

The #CDBcares program has been in the forefront of sponsoring medical missions and outreach programs in the different barangays and municipalities in Cebu Province for the past decade. This program is the brainchild of President-CEO and Cebu-based Neurologist Dr. Jarungchai Anton S. Vatanagul. Dr. Toom, as fondly called by colleagues, has granted 155 medical review scholarships as well as academic scholarships for non-physicians (e.g. Elementary & High School Education, Vocational Courses). This program has also supported the surgical operations and medical treatment of children with hydrocephalus, congenital anomalies and cancers.

The #CDBcares program has provided countless opportunities for underprivileged and medically afflicted individuals throughout the years.

CDB would like to express its utmost gratitude to the following kind-hearted companies who helped make this event possible: Beauty & Brains Skin, Aesthetic, Neurology & Medical Clinic, Gourmet Secrets Catering Services, Med Hauz Dorm, Children’s Paradise Montessori School, Premier Homes, Prime Care Cebu, Krua Thai, Ngohiong Express, Y101, Med Solutions Pharmacy and Get Access Printshop.

May the #CDBcares program continue to touch lives and make a difference.
