All Set for 2019 Regent AGUILA IRONMAN 70.3 powered by Philam Vitality

This year’s 8th edition of the Regent AGUILA IRONMAN 70.3 powered by Philam Vitality will be using again the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR)  of the South Road Properties as part of the 90-kilometer bike route this coming August 11, 2019.

This was confirmed by Cebu City’s Joel Garganera during last Thursday press conference at the Ocean Pavilion of the Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

“Last year were not actively involved because of the sudden change of the bike route but fortunately this year’s race, we are going to use the SRP area. Cebu has been supporting Ironman 70.3 except last year. However, this year Cebu is ready to be one of the co-hosts of this prestigious event,” said Garganera.

The race starts with a 1.9 swim at the beachfront of Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa. After completing it, the participants will proceed to the transition area at the Mactan Newtown and will mount their bikes with the 90-K bike leg and finish off the race with a 21K run along the streets of Punta Engano, Mactan.

Sunrise Events General Manager and President Princess Galura disclosed this year they have been newly acquired as a company by the Ironman Group.

“Today is the new beginning for all of us, for the newly elected officials from the province to Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Cebu City, and Talisay City. It is also a new beginning for us at Sunrise because last March 30 we have been acquired as a company by the Ironman group. So, right now we are called Sunrise events, a part of the Ironman group. I think that’s a very good indication of what we do here in the Philippines is something they can learn from. I also think that being a part of the Ironman group, we are able to get the best practices all over the world so that we can improve what we have here,” said Galura.

Galura added that Ironman 70.3 Philippines-Cebu was recognized as the best triathlon run route in Asia for 2018 and handed the award to the newly elected Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan.

Mayor Chan expressed his full support to the IRONMAN 70.3 race not only as the father of the city but also as an athlete during his younger years being a tennis player.
