Dumaguete City to Host CVIRAA Meet 2020

Dumaguete City will be expecting about 10,000 student-athletes, coaches and officials as the City of Gentle People hosts for the second straight year the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (CVIRAA) Meet from February 17 to 22, 2020.

The cities of Cebu and Tagbilaran were also eyed to host this year’s CVIRAA Meet, however, Dumaguete opted to once again have the regional meet in their turf as it will serve as their dry run for their hosting of the 11th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) School Games later this year.

The CVIRAA Meet will serve as Central Visayas selection for its representatives to the Palarong Pambansa which will be hosted by Marikina City from April 26 to May 2, 2020.

It will have its opening day on February 17 which will start with the parade of athletes from the Capitol Area, passing by Freedom Park then onwards to the Perdices Coliseum for the opening program.

The next day will be the official start of sporting competitions in archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, billiards, baseball, basketball, 3 on 3 basketball, boxing, chess, football,  futsal, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, tennis, table Tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, wushu, pencak silat, gymnastics, aero gymnastics and dancesport.

All events are expected to be finished by February 22 in time for the closing and awarding ceremonies at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex.
