Lapu Mayor Chan Sealed Partnership With Japanese Town of Oarai

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan signed a sister city partnership with a Japanese town Oarai, headed by its town Mayor Yutaka Kunii and his officials, Friday, May 20.

The signing was witnessed by Atty. Misaellee Tejano, Secretary to the Mayor, Atty. James Allan Sayson, OIC City Legal Office, and Shuichiro Atsumi, CEO, Achievegoal Co., Ltd.

Also present during the MOA signing are Vice Mayor Celedonio Sitoy, City Administrator Danilo Almendras, Congresswoman-elect Cindi King-Chan, Coun. Efren Herrera, Coun. Queenie Amman, Ex-officio member (SK Federation) Laika Tampus, and Oairai City officials.

Seeing the scenic and the historical City of Lapu-Lapu, the Japanese Mayor is very happy with the partnership.

“I am getting in love with the Philippines and I want to know more about Lapu-Lapu,” said Mayor Kunii as tranlated by one of his offiials Shogo Kawwbata.

He said our airport is better than in Manila.

Mayor Chan warmly welcomed Mayor Kunii and his officials and assured their safety during their stay. Mayor Chan said there are many Japanese firms in Lapu-Lapu City.

Mayor Chan showed a video clip of the City’s scenic spots. He promised Mayor Kunii and his 4 officials to tour them in those places the next day Saturday, May 21.

After the sister city partnership signing both Mayors exchanged beautiful gifts and had group photos of Lapu-Lapu City officials together with Oarai town Mayor Kunii and his officials.
