The visiting secondary volleyball team of Tay Tung of Bacolod ruled the Cebu-Bacolod Goodwill Volleyball Women’s Game which came to an end Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Lux Oriens Gym of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Tay Tung defeated the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 19 women’s volleyball champion University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-12.

Tay Tung advanced to the championship round by not dropping any of their four games in the elimination round.

With its clean 4-0 win-loss record, the visiting volleybelles topped the elimination.

USJ-R, for its part, finished the elimination as the second-ranked team with a 3-1 card, thus earning the right to face Tay Tung in the championship round.

Finishing third place was SHS-AdC B via a deciding third set against the University of San Carlos (USC) women’s team, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12.

The SHS-AdC won the first set, 25-21, but  USC managed to forge a deciding third set by taking the second set, 25-19.

The younger squad stayed focus to outsmart the seniors and clinch the third place honors.

The Goodwill Games served as an avenue  to expose Cebu volleyball to other areas in the Visayas which have a more competitive volleyball community.

Instead of just four teams, SHS-AdC fielded in two teams for a total of five which meant more games for each team as the elimination round followed a sing round-robin format.
