Xyrra Cabusas and Gj Buyco earned a slot in their respective division to represent the country in the upcoming 2016 World Youth Championships in Nebraska, USA.

The elimination was held at the Superbowl, Makati Cinema Square last November  with the top four finishers in the girls and boys divisions to comprise the Philippine boys and girls youth bowling teams to this  year’s World Youth Championship in Nebraska, USA.

“Almost three months ago, it was a dream, I treat it like the farthest start to reach, I even underestimate myself that I couldn’t make it because of the presence of several top bowlers from around the country but that thought didn’t stop me from coming here and trying,” said Buyco.

Buyco, 17, of the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus, recently competed in the 16th Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong together with Ivan Malig, Louis Cantorna and Mervin Tan of the Philippine junior bowling team, wherein they bagged a silver medal in the boy’s team event.

“After joining the 16th Asian School, that was when I started to aspire for the PHL slot for the World Youth Championship,” said Buyco.

Buyco topped the boy’s eliminations after scoring a total of 4,679 pinfalls in a two-day event. During the first day, he scored 1,556 in a series of eight games then 1,541 on the second day.

He led by 101 points over Cantorna who placed second after scoring 4,578 pinfalls. Gospel Gahol settled for third with his 4,553 pinfalls while Kenzo Umali placed fourth with his 4,4537 pinfalls.

In the girl’s division, Cabusas, also of USC, was leading all throughout the two day eliminations and scored a total of 4,350 pinfalls followed by Rjoy Daval-Santos at second, Daphne Custodio at third and Angel Lazo at fourth place.

This year’s World Youth Championship on July  will be participated by an estimated of 300 world best youth players aged 16-21 years old which  will be hosted by the Sun Valley Lanes and the Lincoln Bowling Association
