Cebu Football Club Pushes Major Grassroots Program to Boost Cebu Province’s Young Football Talents

The Cebu Football Club (CFC) paid a courtesy visit to Governor Pam Baricuatro to present a comprehensive proposal aimed at strengthening grassroots football development across Cebu Province and helping young athletes elevate their performance.

During the meeting, CFC led by Club CEO, Mr. Ugur Tasci expressed its commitment to work closely with the Provincial Government in nurturing aspiring football players and supporting existing municipal teams. The initiative intends to uplift the competitiveness of Cebu’s athletes, especially as the province continues to face challenges in securing championship titles in national tournaments such as the Palarong Pambansa.
As part of their proposal, the Cebu Football Club offered to conduct training camps, coaching clinics, and grassroots development programs focused on foundational skills, discipline, sportsmanship, and sustainable athlete development. CFC emphasized that building a strong grassroots system is essential to producing high-performing athletes for future regional and national competitions.
Governor Baricuatro welcomed the initiative and highlighted the value of investing in youth and sports development. She noted that football remains one of Cebu’s most promising sports, with many young talents needing structured training, mentorship, and exposure.
The Governor also invited a representative from the Cebu Football Club to attend an upcoming quorum of the Cebu Province Sports Commission, where the proposal will be formally presented and evaluated for potential implementation.

If approved, the partnership is expected to create expanded and well-organized opportunities for young football players in Cebu’s municipalities, ultimately strengthening the province’s long-term competitiveness in the sport.
Both the Provincial Government and the Cebu Football Club remain optimistic that this collaboration will pave the way for a more united, dynamic football community—one that nurtures homegrown talent and positions Cebu Province back into the national spotlight.
